Discussion of “The Ripple Effect” on April 23

NAMI Anoka County will show the film “The Ripple Effect” on April 23, from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at First Congregational UCC, 1923 N. 3rd Ave., in Anoka.

“The Ripple Effect” chronicles the story of Kevin Hines, who at age 19 attempted to take his life. Since then, he has been on a mission to use his story to help others find recovery and stay alive, and has become one of the worlds most prominent suicide prevention speaker and advocate.

The film also features some of the world’s leading suicide prevention experts and shines light on people who are using personal experiences with suicide to help others.

Following the screening, join in a panel discussion on how mental health issues affect the community, what individuals can do to fight the stigma surrounding this national epidemic and support those facing mental health challenges with other local organizations and community members involved in the fight against the stigma of mental illness and suicide.

This is a free event, but due to limited seating, pre-registration is required. Register online: suicide-the-ripple-effect-anoka.eventbrite.com.
