Volunteer Placement Process

  1. Submit the online Volunteer Application. If you need a hard copy of the application, contact us at 651-645-2948 x110 or by email at volunteer.resources@namimn.org.
  2. Attach a resume, cover letter, or additional supporting documents if you desire.
  3. If you are a current NAMI volunteer and have a recent application on-file, email volunteer.resources@namimn.org and include your name, contact information, and the position in which you are interested.

Once your application is submitted, you will receive an email confirmation and we’ll contact you to arrange a screening interview. Phone Interviews take approximately half an hour and allow us to find the best fit for you and our organization.

If you are chosen for a volunteer position, we will invite you to the next available volunteer training for that placement. Candidates are also encouraged to attend a Get2KnowNAMI and Hope for Recovery Session, in addition to participating in any program they hope to lead.

Please Note: While NAMI has regularly occurring trainings for some positions, others are offered only once or twice a year. Applicants are encouraged to apply and complete their screening well in advance of any training date they are interested in attending, and will remain on our wait-list pending an appropriate training opportunity.
