Mental Health 101 for LGBTQ Community
In February, NAMI Minnesota launched a new Mental Health 101 presentation specifically geared towards the LGBTQ community.
Taught by presenters from the LGBTQ community itself, this interactive class gives attendees an opportunity to learn about the unique forces that shape the intersection between sex, gender, and mental illnesses while also addressing the unique barriers that LGBTQ identifying individuals face when seeking professional care.
Attendees also learn how to recognize warning signs of mental illnesses, what types of treatment are available, and ways they can help others get support if they’re struggling to reach out. This class will now be offered along with the rest of the Mental Health 101 Series and is available upon request. Contact NAMI at 651-645-2948.
